Assigning Roles to the Function Buttons

To assign roles to the function buttons, press and hold the [DISP/BACK] button until the menu below is displayed. Select buttons to choose their roles.

The options available include:

  • [AF MODE]
  • [FACE/EYE DETECTION SETTING]
  • [SELF-TIMER]
  • [PHOTOMETRY]
  • [SHUTTER TYPE]
  • [ISO AUTO SETTING]
  • [CONVERSION LENS]
  • [ND FILTER]
  • [WIRELESS COMMUNICATION]
  • [FLASH FUNCTION SETTING]
  • [TTL-LOCK]
  • [MODELING FLASH]
  • [MIC LEVEL ADJUSTMENT]
  • [PREVIEW DEPTH OF FIELD]
  • [PREVIEW EXP./WB IN MANUAL MODE]
  • [PREVIEW PIC. EFFECT]

To disable the selected button, choose [NONE].

You can also display options for any of the function buttons by pressing and holding the button. This does not apply to buttons to which [FOCUS CHECK], [AE LOCK ONLY], [AF LOCK ONLY], or [AE/AF LOCK] are currently assigned.

The roles played by the six function buttons can also be selected using [BUTTON/DIAL SETTING] > [FUNCTION (Fn) SETTING].

TTL-LOCK

If [TTL-LOCK] is selected, you can press the control to lock flash output according to the option selected for [FLASH SETTING] > [TTL-LOCK MODE].

MODELING FLASH

If [MODELING FLASH] is selected when a compatible shoe-mounted flash unit is attached, you can press the control to test-fire the flash and check for shadows and the like (modeling flash).
