FLASH MODE

Choose a flash mode.

AUTO (AUTO FLASH): The flash fires when required. Recommended in most situations.
(FORCED FLASH): The flash fires whenever a picture is taken. Use for backlit subjects or for natural coloration when shooting in bright light.
(SLOW SYNCHRO): Capture both the main subject and the background under low light (note that brightly lit scenes may be overexposed).
(2ND CURTAIN SYNC.): The flash fires immediately before the shutter closes.
(COMMANDER): A flash mounted on the hot shoe can be used to control optional remote flash units.
(SUPPRESSED FLASH): The flash does not fire even when the subject is poorly lit. A tripod is recommended.

Depending on the distance to the subject, some lenses may cast shadows in photos taken with the flash.

If is displayed when the shutter button is pressed halfway, the flash will fire when the photo is taken.

Except in commander mode, the flash may fire several times with each shot. Do not move the camera until shooting is complete.

The flash will synchronize with the shutter at shutter speeds of 1/250 s or slower.

Red-Eye Removal

When “intelligent face detection” is active, and on is selected for “red eye removal”, red-eye removal is available in , , , . Red-eye removal minimizes “red-eye” caused when light from the flash is reflected from the subject’s retinas.
