Adjust movie-recording options.


To display options for movie recording, press [MENU]/[OK] in the shooting display and select the B ([MOVIE SETTING]) tab.

The options available vary with the shooting mode selected.

[MOVIE MODE]

Choose a frame size and rate for movie recording.

1 Use a memory card with a UHS speed class of 3 or better when recording time-lapse movies that will be viewed on the camera.

[HDR MOVIE MODE]

Shoot movies with a high dynamic range.

Option Description

[1080/29.97P], [1080/25P],
[1080/24P], [1080/23.98P]

Film HDR movies at a frame size of 1920 × 1080 and a frame rate of 29.97, 25, 24, or 23.98 fps.

[OFF]

Disable HDR movie recording.

[DIGITAL GIMBAL]

Choose whether to enable a more powerful version of the [DIGITAL IMAGE STABILIZER].

[ON] [OFF]

Enabling the digital gimbal results in a smaller crop.

The digital gimbal may be unavailable at certain combinations of settings or with some lenses.

Zoom all the way out when using the digital gimbal with a zoom lens. If [ON] is selected for [DIGITAL GIMBAL], power zoom lenses will automatically zoom all the way out as shooting begins.

[DIGITAL IMAGE STABILIZER]

Choose whether to enable digital image stabilization during movie recording.

Select [OFF] if the camera is mounted on a tripod.

[FULL HD HIGH SPEED REC]

Record Full HD movies at a high frame rate. High-frame-rate movies can be played back in slow motion, giving you time to view fast-moving subjects or details too fleeting for the naked eye.

High-speed movies are compressed to approximately 46 Mbps when recorded to the memory card.

High-speed movies are recorded with no sound.

[COUNTDOWN VIDEO RECORDING]

Choose the maximum movie recording time. A count-down timer is displayed during movie recording.

F[FOCUS MODE]

Choose the focus mode for movie recording.

Option Description
p[MANUAL FOCUS] Focus manually.
k[CONTINUOUS AF] The camera focuses using AF-C.
l[SINGLE AF] The camera focuses using AF-S.

[MOVIE AF MODE]

Choose how the camera selects the focus point for movie recording.

Option Description
s[MULTI] Automatic focus-point selection.
t[AREA] The camera focuses on the subject in the selected focus area.

F[ISO]

Choose the sensitivity for movie recording.

Option Description
[AUTO] Sensitivity is automatically adjusted in response to shooting conditions.
[400]–[6400] Adjust sensitivity manually. Selected value is shown in display.

This setting has no effect on photographs.

[HDMI OUTPUT INFO DISPLAY]

If [ON] is selected, HDMI devices to which the camera is connected will mirror the information in the camera display.

[4K MOVIE OUTPUT]

Choose the destination for 4K movies shot while the camera is connected to an HDMI recorder or other device that supports 4K.

Option Description
b[CARD] 4K movies are recorded to a camera memory card and output to the HDMI device in 4K.
[HDMI] 4K movies are output to the HDMI device in 4K. The camera does not record 4K movies to a memory card.

[HDMI REC CONTROL]

Choose whether the camera sends movie start and stop signals to the HDMI device when the shutter or t (movie recording) button is pressed to start and stop movie recording.

[AUDIO SETTING]

Adjust audio-related settings for movie recording.

[INTERNAL MIC LEVEL ADJUSTMENT]

Adjust the recording level for the built-in microphone.

Option Description
[AUTO] The camera adjusts the recording level automatically.
[MANUAL] Adjust the recording level manually. Press the focus stick (focus lever) right to choose from 25 recording levels.
[OFF] Turn the built-in microphone off.

[EXTERNAL MIC LEVEL ADJUSTMENT]

Adjust the recording level for external microphones.

[AUTO] The camera adjusts the recording level automatically.
[MANUAL] Adjust the recording level manually. Press the focus stick (focus lever) right to choose from 25 recording levels.
[OFF] Disable recording using external microphones.

[MIC LEVEL LIMITER]

Reduces distortion caused by input that exceeds the limits of the microphone’s audio circuits.

[WIND FILTER]

Choose whether to enable wind noise reduction during movie recording.

[LOW CUT FILTER]

Choose whether to enable the low-cut filter, reducing low-frequency noise during movie recording.

[HEADPHONES VOLUME]

Adjust the headphone volume.

[10]–[1] Choose a volume of from 1 to 10.
[0] Mute output to the headphones.

[MIC/REMOTE RELEASE]

Specify whether the device connected to the microphone/remote release connector is a microphone or a remote release.
